Melaragno, Placidi, Parini & Veitch are pleased to announce that Justin Panighetti has recently joined our firm Of Counsel. Justin comes to MPPV after spending 5 years as an Assistant District Attorney for Erie County. Justin's has significant courtroom and trial experience which will be an invaluable asset to his clients. During Justin's time in the Erie County District Attorney's Office, he prosecuted more than sixty jury trials, successfully securing convictions in a high percentage of cases. Justin's prosecutorial experience includes everything from DUI and Simple Assault, to Robbery, Burglary, Firearms violations, Drugs, Aggravated Assault and Homicide. Justin was assigned to serve as lead prosecutor for three homicides, while serving as co-counsel for two others. In addition to his impressive trial resume, Justin has successfully litigated countless motions, suppression hearings, bench trials and more than thirty appeals. Justin has argued before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, Western Division in Pittsburgh. While at the District Attorney's Office, Justin also attended the week long Pennsylvania Narcotics Association “Top Gun” Training Program in October 2011.
An Erie native, Justin graduated from Edinboro University in 2003, and Suffolk University Law School in Boston in 2006. While at Suffolk University Law School Justin focused the majority of his elective course work within the field of Family Law and Juvenile Delinquency. He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar that same year in 2006, choosing to accept a position with a family law firm in Boston shortly thereafter. In 2009 he returned to Erie, sitting for and passing the Pennsylvania Bar. Immediately thereafter he took a position with the Erie County District Attorney's Office as an Assistant District Attorney. In addition to Justin's private clients and his work with MPPV, Justin also currently holds a Juvenile Dependency contract with the Erie County Court of Common Pleas, where he protects the interests of parents and families with matters pending involving The Office of Children and Youth.
Attorney Panighetti was born and raised in Erie County, and as a result, his primary focus has been and will remain assisting the residents and families of Northwest Pennsylvania navigate the often stressful and complicated court and trial process. Justin is known for his integrity, preparation, and advocacy skills. That was the case for both victims of crime and police agencies while serving as an Assistant District Attorney, and will remain the case for all of his clients now that he has turned his attention to helpings individuals and families successfully navigate the legal process. Justin is definitely one of Erie County's up and coming young lawyers and is highly respected by his clients, peers and Judges.
